How to get Sales Energy from a Commitment
- by Jackie Jarvis The Walking Business Coach & Natural Selling Expert
It can be tough working ALONE on your sales activity.
You know you need to do those follow up calls, make those connections, open up new conversations and speak to your existing or past clients or how else is your business development going to move forward, right?
Sales is down to you. You may even enjoy it once you get going.
It is just getting going that can be tough.
There always seems to be something else that is more important to do.
There is that chat I just need to have, that document that needs a bit more work, that idea that just needs a bit more research, that information that needs finding, that email that needs a response to and Oh YES there is that coffee that needs making!
Before you know it, the day has disappeared, and your business development activities are still on the To Do list.
And worse, you are annoyed with yourself for not doing what you know you need to.
Is it the same with Exercise?
You may have noticed that the same can happen with Exercise.
You want to do it, you know it is good for you, you will feel better when you do, and you agree with all the health benefits. But somehow getting yourself to do it alone can is hard.
But when a friend suggests going out for a run, a walk, game of golf and you agree, you do it. You make a commitment to someone and you go.
It is the same with your exercise class, running club, walking group or round of golf with a group. When others take action and you commit to do the same, at the same time, you go.
It happens. And You get energised. And feel good.
What about your Sales Activity? Could the same formula apply!
I heard from a client of mine that Sage run Sales Days for their independent resellers to create a ‘Let us Commit and Do It Together’ buzz and it works.
As a Business Coach I see how the accountability element of my coaching formula combined with the clarity of thought and focus makes action happen, when it may not otherwise have.
This made me think and with lockdown forcing a lot more people to have to work alone on their sales activity many may be suffering from a lack of vital energy.
Sales Energy Days Took Shape
I created a simple structure and trialed the process with a willing group of 10 business owners and professionals.
- The feedback was very positive.
- Everyone made a commitment and took action.
- It forced them to plan.
- It made them pick up the phone, finish and send proposals, call past clients and more.
“I think it is a great idea and encouraged us to focus on the things we should be doing when it comes to our sales activity and then actually to do it! One of the proposals I finally finished, has brought in the business!” Business Coach
“I tend to suffer from occasional bouts of procrastination, so this really helped make me do it. Nothing beats being held accountable for focusing the mind!” MD Business Owner
“Jackie’s Sales Energy Morning got me focused on contacting people that I would normally not do. By the end of the session, I had re-established contact with 3 former clients, arranged 3 follow-up calls and made 8 other useful contacts.” Business Consultant
“Attending this gave me energy and focus and that made such a difference” Management Trainer
“The 30-minute walk we were encouraged to do beforehand really cleared my mind and got me in the right place to make those calls.” Business Owner
“One of the calls I made turned into business on the day, I am glad I attended.” Leadership Coach
Could this Make you Do It?
Could attending a Sales Energy Morning or Afternoon once or twice a month make you do it!
Sales Energy Days (Half Day) involve you doing your own sales activity, at the same time as others, guided by Jackie’s formula.
When you join the Zoom Session, you automatically make that commitment, sign up for accountability and gain energy from the Lead and others being there in the group.
You can be sure that your sales activity will happen on those days , and only good things can result from it.
